Rustic Kabab Chini Mushroom Masala

A bold, earthy dish with the rich complexity of tailed pepper — aka Kabab Chini.

🌿 Ingredients:

  • 200g button mushrooms, halved
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp oil + 1 tsp ghee
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 3 Kabab Chini (Tailed Pepper) – lightly crushed
  • 1 small Cinnamon Stick (Dalchini)
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ tsp red chili powder
  • ½ tsp garam masala (optional)

🥄 Instructions:

  1. Heat oil + ghee in a pan, add cumin, cinnamon stick, and crushed kabab chini.
  2. Sauté onions until golden brown.
  3. Add ginger-garlic paste and stir till fragrant.
  4. Add tomatoes, salt, and red chili powder. Cook until tomatoes soften.
  5. Add mushrooms and toss well. Cook covered for 5–6 mins until tender.
  6. Sprinkle garam masala and serve hot with rice or roti.
